Abstract

Several non-centrosymmetric borate crystals developed since 1985 are known for their attractive features in frequency conversion to the ultraviolet region.1,2 Recently two isomorphous nonlinear crystals LiKB4O7 (LKB4) and L.iRbB4O7 (LRB4) were discovered and shown to have good mechanical strength, good chemical stability and wide transparency down to 190 nm.3 Here we report transmission and dispersive properties of LRB4 and present first results with second harmonic generation.
