Abstract
Much attention has been paid to relaxor ferroelectric crystals because of their excellent piezoelectric and dielectric properties for industrial applications as well as their diffuse phase transition for scientific interest.1-3 Among many relaxor ferroelectric crystals, a solid solution of Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3 and PbTiO3 (PZN-PT) possesses quite large piezoelectric coefficients and electromechanical coupling coefficients around a morphotropic phase boundary (MPB).2 Although a large piezoelectric effect strongly indicates large electro- and nonlinear-optical effects, the studies on the optical properties are limited so far. Y. Lu et al. investigated the electrooptic and photoelastic effects of PZN-PT4-6 in detail. In this paper, we investigate the photorefractive effect in the PZN-PT crystal by two-wave mixing.
