Spectral Shaping of SC in a Photonic Crystal Fibre: Polarization, Pulse Duration and Chirp Properties

Abstract

Smooth SC with ripples not exceeding 10 db is needed for many scientific applications. Among them are optical coherence tomography,1 high precision spectroscopy,2 generation of phase-stabilized short pulses.' Photonic crystal fibres (PCF) allow to generate SC covering more than 1 octave,4 but in many cases the spectrum fluctuations (even gaps) are too strong, limiting their direct applications. Commercial spectrai shapers are not good enough to provide shaping in the range 400-1200 nm.
