Abstract

In this tutorial, the different techniques for Optical 2R/3R Regeneration targeting either ultra long-haul transmission and/or terrestrial networking applications at 40Gbit/s will be reviewed. Principles of operation as well as recent system demonstrations will be described, highlighting the key features and potential applications of each and every approaches.
