Abstract

A gain clamped SOA combined with a distributed Raman fiber amplifier has a gain of 19.6dB and a noise figure of 2.9dB. Sixteen channels of 10Gb/s signals are successfully transmitted over 5 spans of 80km even under dynamic add-drop situations.
