Abstract
Recently, terahertz (THz) electromagnetic wave gathers our attention because of various potential applications1. Although there was a need of high-Q cavities for efficient THz radiation sources, it has been difficult to realize a high-Q cavity because of significant loss in the electric circuit or in materials. In this paper, we demonstrate a high-Q cavity is possible to realize by using three-dimensional photonic crystal with a planar defect, by which we observed enhanced THz radiation from a photomixer antenna.
