Design of Flat-Gain Fiber Raman Amplifiers Using Equally Spaced Pumps with Fixed and Optimized Central Wavelength

Abstract

We analyze the gain flatness of Raman amplifiers using equally spaced pumps. We show that using an optimized central pump wavelength with equal pump spacing provides ample gain flatness and may simplify system design.
