Abstract

Passively Q-switched Nd: YAG/Cr4+:YAG microchip lasers have demonstrated pulse widths <150 ps. For short-pulsed operation, the pulse width is dependent on the Nd concentration and is correlated with the maximum pulse rate achievable before thermal runaway.
