High-energy Pulses from a Femtosecond Yb Fiber Laser and Their Soliton Self-frequency Shift in Photonic Crystal Fiber

Abstract

We report a mode-locked Yb fiber laser that generates the highest-energy (2.2 nJ) and shortest (52 fs) pulses. Tunable pulses in the 1-1.3 micron range are obtained through soliton self-frequency shift in photonic crystal fiber.
