Abstract

We report results of two-dimensional local voltage measurement of the transverse cross-section of operating multi-quantum-well ridge-waveguide lasers. We observe lateral non-uniformity of local voltage in the n-cladding layers of the laser and attribute the voltage variation to two-dimensional carrier transport effect within the lasers.
