All Fiber Re-configurable Wavelength Selective Optical Switch

Abstract

We report an all fiber re-configurable 1×4 wavelength selective optical switch using a new fast and robust tuning technique in fused WDM fiber couplers. Port to port switching was realized by precise elongation control of the taper region. Simultaneous wavelength routing and switching functions were achieved among 4 ports in a novel 1.5μm Coarse WDM de-multiplexer, with a low insertion loss, fast response, and flexible wavelength tunability.
