Measurement of the fiber nonlinear coefficient by the spectral interferometry technique

Abstract

A method for measuring the nonlinear coefficient γ of optical fibers is proposed and demonstrated. The nonlinear phase induced by self-phase modulation on 110-fs pulses propagating into an optical fiber of length 50-100 cm is measured by spectral interferometry.
