Measurement of laser-induced double step ionization of helium

Abstract

The transient evolution of the free electron density in a thin helium gas jet under intense femtosecond laser irradiation is measured with single-shot supercontinuum spectral interferometry. The double-step-ionization feature is observed with single shot operation.
