Abstract
Refractive index changes in intensively-pumped Nd:YAG crystals were studied using both polarization interferometer and transient grating method. An electronic index change due to Nd3+-ion excitation was measured to be high under diode-stack pumping, increasing dramatically under additional UV pumping.
