Light-induced direct-write patterning of inverted domains in lithium niobate

Abstract

We developed a technique to directly write ferroelectric domain patterns, with feature sizes down to 2µm, into lithium niobate crystals using a diffraction limited visible light spot. Local temperature measurements exclude a pure temperature effect.
