High Speed Surface Magneto-Plasmon Reflectivity Modulator

Abstract

We propose a magneto-optic (MO) modulator based on surface magneto-plasmons in a rare-earth garnet. The modulator has improved efficiency over MO modulation by bulk propagation, is capable of multi-gigahertz operation, and has a tunable bandwidth.
