Polarization transformations by engineering space-variant inhomogeneous media on subwavelength scale

Abstract

Radially and azimuthally polarized beams are highly desired for many applications. We proposed to engineer such beams using space-variant inhomogeneous media (SVIM) on subwavelength scale. We conducted optical experiment providing such polarization states with high purity.
