Investigation of temperature distribution and phase distortion in high-power diode edge-pumped microchip composite Yb:YAG laser

Abstract

Temperature distribution modelling and measurement are reported for 400-µm thick Yb:YAG/YAG composite structure with 2×2-mm2 core area, 10-at.% Yb:YAG. Small focus shift and low astigmatism is demonstrated while absorbed power is in hundreds watts range.
