Adiabatic diffraction-limited beam propagation of intense self-focusing beams in multimode-core fibers

Abstract

High-intensity beams propagating in multimode-core fibers stay diffraction-limited below the critical self-focusing power. Periodic beam-size variation caused by self-phase-modulation along the fiber occurs adiabatically and the beam is accurately represented by a local fundamental mode.
