Abstract

We demonstrate UV-written laser waveguides in neodymium-doped silica-on-silicon. Lasing at 1048-1056nm and 1356nm was observed and a slope efficiency of 33% and threshold of 4mW were measured for the 4F3/24I11/2 transition.
