1-D photonic crystal waveguide micro-cavity for ultra sensitive nano-particle detection

Abstract

We demonstrate a Si micron-size photonic device for the detection of low concentrations of metal nano-particles used as analyte labels. A density of less than 2 particles per area of the sensing region was detectible.
