Optical Transmission of Frequency Standards using Mode-Locked Lasers

Abstract

We report on distribution of highly-stable microwave and optical frequency standards across optical fiber networks using mode-locked lasers. Ultrafast technology has been found to improve transmission instability penalties by at least one order of magnitude.
