SBS remote and spatially-resolved monitoring of the state of polarization in optical fibers

Abstract

A new technique is demonstrated that allows remote monitoring of the distributed state of polarization along a fiber. The technique is based on the stimulated Brillouin Scattering of a pulsed pump and a CW probe.
