Amplification in a bismuth-doped silica glass at second telecommunication windows

Abstract

We have demonstrated an amplification phenomenon in a bismuth -doped silica glass at 1300 nm with 800 nm excitation and discussed its potential application in optical communication, which may be increased further through its use as core -fiber material.
