Abstract

A new concept - chirped-pulse cascade-compression - is proposed and demonstrated. Initial experiments agree with numerical simulations, including compression of 35fs, 1.2mJ-pulses to 20fs. Scaling to higher pulse energies and compression ratios will be possible.
