Q-switched fiber laser based on deformable micro-electromechanical mirror

Abstract

We demonstrated active Q-switching of an erbium-doped fiber laser by using an electrostatically actuated deformable metallic micro-mirror. Q-switch operation has been demonstrated with frequencies up to 120 kHz and short pulses down to 300 ns.
