Enhancement of Evanescent Coupling to Whispering- Gallery Modes Caused by Au Nanorods Grown on a Microresonator Surface

Abstract

Gold nanorods are grown on the surfaces of high quality optical microresonators. Measurements show huge enhancement of the coupling of resonator modes to an optical fiber in the range of nanorod surface plasmon frequencies.
