Direct Amplification of 3-ps Pulses to 80 nJ at 50-MHz Repetition Rate in Large-Mode-Area Yb-Fiber

Abstract

We study direct picosecond pulse amplification in large-mode area, double-clad Yb- fiber amplifier. We achieved good-quality 3-ps, 80-nJ pulses in a near diffraction-limited beam. 28-nJ pulses in the green (520 nm) are produced by second-harmonic generation.
