Merging Spintronics with Plasmonics: Evidence of Electron Spin-Controlled Light Transport

Abstract

We provide evidence of electron spin-dependent terahertz plasmonic transport through sub-wavelength ferromagnetic/nonmagnetic microparticles. The mechanism is related to dynamic spin accumulation in the nonmagnet. The discovery may lead to plasmonic devices that exploit electron spin.
