Femtosecond Laser Nanomachining Applications in Fused Silica

Abstract

Focused femtosecond laser light can produce beautifully arrayed self-organized nanocracks inside fused silica. These nanocracks provide a unique capability for nanomachining micro- and nanofluidic channels, nanoporous capillaries and rewritable data storage elements.
