Soliton Compression to Few-cycle Pulses Using Quadratic Nonlinear Photonic Crystal Fibers: A Design Study

Abstract

We show theoretically that high-quality soliton compression from ~500 fs to ~10 fs is possible in poled silica photonic crystal fibers using cascaded χ(2): χ(2) nonlinearities. A moderate group-velocity mismatch optimizes the compression.
