Abstract
The linewidth of a mode-locked laser’s frequency comb induced by spontaneous emission, or quantum noise, is shown to obey different scaling laws in the linear-dispersionless, i.e., Schawlow-Townes, nonlinear-dispersive, or pure soliton, and intermediate operating regimes.
