Very efficient fluorescent background suppression in confocal Raman microscopy

Abstract

Time-gated optical imaging is employed for the first time to achieve confocal Raman microscopy. The innovative laser design and a careful selection of the Kerr-gate material allows to reduce fluorescent background by 1000 times.
