Transmission of different angular-momentum modes in cylindrically symmetric photonic bandgap fibers in the near infrared

Abstract

We report the first controllable transmission of TE01 and HE11 modes (angular momenta 0 and 1, respectively) in cylindrically symmetric photonic bandgap fibers in the near-infrared and confirm that TE01 has lower losses than HE11.
