Abstract

We propose a simple approach to improve the receiver sensitivity in a line-of-sight optical channel using a delayed-diversified pulse-position-modulation scheme. A 5-dB sensitivity improvement is achieved over the conventional RZ-OOK scheme in the presence of atmospheric turbulence.
