Optimized photon pair generation by parametric downconversion in nonlinear photonic crystals

Abstract

We explore the generation of photon pairs by the process of parametric downconversion in nonlinear photonic crystals. In particular, we show that careful design of the photonic crystal, can lead to nearly-factorable two-photon states.
