New gap solitons in two-dimensional photonic lattices

Abstract

We theoretically predict and experimentally demonstrate new types of gap solitons in 2D photonic lattices such as dipole-array gap solitons. These solitons bifurcate from a superposition of Bloch modes at edges of higher Bloch bands.
