Abstract

The first passively mode-locked Yb:Lu2O3 thin disk laser generates 370-fs pulses with 20.5 W average power. Yb:Lu2O3 is an excellent alternative to femtosecond Yb:YAG thin disk lasers, achieving higher optical-to-optical efficiencies and shorter pulse durations.
