Fiber taper coupling to chalcogenide microsphere modes

Abstract

We report the manufacturing and optical characterization of microsphere in chalcogenide. We show that high-Q modes of a 9.2 µm diameter chalcogenide glass can be efficiently excited using a silica tapered fiber.
