Wide ridge low-divergence metal-metal terahertz quantum cascade lasers

Abstract

We utilize plasmonic side-absorbers to enforce lasing in the TM00 mode in wide ridge metal-metal terahertz quantum cascade lasers, which results in improved power outcoupling and reduced far-field divergence for both surface- and edge-emitting devices.
