Ultra Broadband Gain from a Bismuth-doped Glass Waveguide Fabricated Using Ultrafast Laser Inscription

Abstract

Waveguides were fabricated inside a Bi-doped silica glass using ultrafast laser inscription. When optically pumped at 980 nm, ultra-broadband gain was measured from the waveguides, paving the way for compact ultra-broadband optical amplifiers.
