Properties of hard x-rays generated by femtosecond laser interaction with Cu in a laminar helium flow in ambient air

Abstract

Hard x-rays are generated in laminar helium flow in atmosphere by tightly focused 35fs-3mJ laser pulses interacting with Cu. Spectrum, efficiency and source size are compared with those measured in vacuum and in static helium.
