Power Scaling of Yb-Free, Er-Doped Fiber Laser with Resonant Clad Pumping

We report resonantly cladding-pumped Yb-free Er-doped fiber laser delivering ~48 W of CW output at 1590 nm with ~57% efficiency. It is believed to be the highest power ever reported from Yb-free, Er-doped LMA fiber.
