Ultralow Dissipation Optomechanical Resonators on a Chip

Abstract

We demonstrate, for the first time, independent control over mechanical and optical properties within single chip-scale optomechanical resonators. The direct observation of micromechanical normal-mode splitting enables combining ultra-high optical finesse with material-loss limited mechanical Q-factors[1].
