Optically Controlled Variable Optical Buffer for Data Packet Storage in Optical Packet Switching Networks

Abstract

A novel solution for all optical packets buffering is proposed. Variable delays are performed by exploiting a fiber based re-circulating loop configuration. XGM in SOAs allows optical controlling of the packets storage time.
