Dual Wavelength Gain Guided Broad Area Semiconductor Lasers

A monolithically integrated dual wavelength semiconductor laser for optical heterodyning is presented. We present a novel laser design which employs surface etched DBR gratings in order to obtain lasing at very narrow line widths.
