Cavity enhanced on-chip spectrometer with sub-nm resolution

Abstract

A novel on-chip spectrometer device using combined functionalities of a micro-ring resonator and a planar diffraction grating is proposed and demonstrated. The spectrometer has a 2 mm2 footprint and exhibits 100 channels each with 0.05 nm FWHM.
