Nonlinear Beam Reflection by Negative Defects in Photonic Lattices

Abstract

We demonstrate both theoretically and experimentally that a nonlinear beam can be reflected by a negative defect in photonic lattices if the incident angle is below a threshold. This phenomenon can be used to control beam propagation in photonic lattices.
