Widely tunable generation of bandwidth-limited short light pulses by passive mode-locking

Abstract

With a passively mode-locked laser diode we obtain an extremely large tuning range both for the repetition rate (1 to 42 GHz) and for the wavelength (Δλ = 50 nm). Fourier-limited, short (<1.5 ps) pulses are generated in the whole mode-locking regime.
