Abstract
Development of laser technology for the generation and amplification of ultrashort pulses has made it possible to produce light intensities of 1013 ~ 1018 W/cm2. High-order harmonic generation is one of typical phenomena induced by nonperturbative atomic nonlinear response to the strong laser field, and it provides us with a new and promising approach to a compact, high-brightness, tunable coherent radiation source in the soft X-ray spectral region.
